An indie singer/songwriter described as one of the best in the English-speaking world today. His political songs are so effective because they are both politically sharp and contain beautiful poetry. He has shared the stage with the likes of Pete Seeger, Michael Moore, Billy Bragg, Howard Zinn and John McCutcheon. "Don't let anyone tell you that you are just one person, and you can't save the world," states David Rovics. Pete Seeger says, "Listen to David Rovics..." and Amy Goodman agrees, "David Rovics is the musical version of Democracy Now.”
David Rovics is a folksinger of the rabble-rousing variety. He has become something of a fixture in the North American protest scene, performing at demonstrations throughout the continent, including A20 (April 20th, 2002 anti-war protest in DC), A16 (April 16th, 2000 protest against the IMF/World Bank), the September, 2002 IMF/World Bank protests, School of the Americas protests, as well as at notable global justice and peace-related events in Berlin, Prague, Quebec City and many others. David also performs regularly throughout North America , Europe and occasionally elsewhere at festivals, folk clubs, college campuses, and conferences organized by a wide range of progressive groups reflecting the topics that he writes about -- the environment, labor, US foreign policy, globalization, and other topics related to taking on the status quo and changing the world.
David sings original songs about the various struggles of the day, combining accomplished bluegrass-style flat-picking with incisive lyrics. His sixth CD, Hang A Flag In The Window, was recorded with singer Allie Rosenblatt in different sessions during the spring, summer and fall of 2002. Most of it consists of commentary about the post-9/11 world.
